Privacy policy

Privacy, by design.

This policy explains how the CCTV Time Difference app handles information. Its core work—photographs, OCR, calculations, saved examinations, and PDF generation—takes place on your device.

Effective 8 September 2026

The short version

CCTV Collector does not receive, collect, sell, or use personal data from the CCTV Time Difference app for analytics, advertising, or tracking. The app stores and processes the material you add locally on your iPhone or iPad.

1. Scope

This privacy policy applies to the CCTV Time Difference app for iOS and iPadOS, provided by CCTV Collector. The separate section titled “Website contact” explains what happens if you choose to contact CCTV Collector from this website.

In this policy, “collect” means transmitting information from the app to CCTV Collector or a third party for longer-term access. Information that remains only on your device is described separately so you can understand how the app works.

2. Data stored and processed on your device

The app can store information you choose to enter or create, including CCTV and reference times, dates, time-zone context, camera or location labels, notes, report details, photographs, OCR text, calculation results, and saved examinations.

This information is kept in the app’s local container. OCR uses Apple Vision on the device, calculations run locally, and PDFs are generated locally. CCTV Collector does not operate an account system, analytics service, advertising service, or cloud database for the app.

Your responsibility: CCTV material can contain personal or sensitive information. Only photograph, store, and share material when you are authorised to do so, and follow the retention and evidence-handling rules that apply to your work.

3. Camera and photo-library access

The app asks for camera or photo-library access only after you choose the corresponding action. You can take a photograph of a time display or select an existing image. The app does not automatically scan your photo library and does not access, download, record, or distribute CCTV video.

A selected image may include its available creation date. The image and OCR result are used locally for the time comparison and documentation you requested. You can change camera and photo permissions at any time in iOS or iPadOS Settings; denying access does not prevent manual time entry.

4. Network use and reference time

When reference-clock calibration is attempted, the app sends a standard, fixed-size Network Time Protocol request to time.apple.com over UDP port 123. That request does not contain photographs, OCR text, notes, report details, or saved examinations.

CCTV Collector does not receive or store the request or response. Apple and your network provider may process technical connection information, such as an IP address, under their own policies. If calibration is unavailable, the app uses the device clock and clearly labels the time source.

5. PDF reports and sharing

PDF reports are generated locally. Information leaves the app only when you explicitly use the iOS or iPadOS share sheet, save a file to a destination you choose, or send it through another app or service. After that action, the recipient or selected service handles the shared copy under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The app contains no advertising SDK, no third-party analytics SDK, and no cross-app tracking. It does not use data for targeted advertising or data-broker activity. The app’s Apple privacy manifest declares no collected data and no tracking. Local app preferences use Apple’s UserDefaults API only to provide app functionality.

7. Retention and deletion

App data remains on your device until you remove an examination, replace or remove its content, or delete the app. Removing an examination also removes its locally stored photograph from the app’s image store. Copies you have exported must be deleted separately from the destination where you saved or shared them.

The app does not use a CCTV Collector-operated iCloud container or cloud service. Standard device backups may include app data depending on your Apple account and device backup settings. Those backups are controlled through iOS, iPadOS, Finder, iCloud, or the relevant backup provider.

8. Children

The app is a professional documentation tool and is not directed to children. CCTV Collector does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

9. Website contact

You do not need an account to use this website. If you choose to contact CCTV Collector by email, the message is sent through your email provider and we receive the information you include. We use it to answer your enquiry, provide support, and keep any records reasonably needed for follow-up or legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your correspondence when no overriding legal obligation requires retention.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, website, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when the current version took effect.

11. Contact

If you have a privacy question or want to request deletion of information you sent by email, please use the CCTV Collector contact page. Because the app does not send its locally stored examinations to CCTV Collector, requests concerning those records must be handled on the device or at any destination to which you exported them.
